2022 Season Kick-Off

LETTER FROM MICAH FINK, CEO & FOUNDER

I wanted to take a moment to share a few thoughts as today is the start of the 2022 season. Getting to this point after a long winter is never easy. This year we had more inquiries and applications than ever before.

Interestingly, we are not here to tell anyone that we have all the answers, provide a vacation or a reprieve, or claim that we are going to fix all of their problems. Our approach is not the latest technology or a secret sauce, but rather wholly the opposite.

It's authentic

It's elemental like Earth, water, air, and fire.

It's a journey where one learns that it's not about where you have been but who you are, what you need, and how to fight for the dignity of your human experience.

The Horses and Humans serve as mentors, keepers, and maintainers of a 41- day ritual that peels back the layers of who an individual is outside of their experience.

The journey serves as an opportunity for reflection. In the true reflection of oneself, one stops looking out for answers and breaks the cycle.  Every year we grow and evolve this program. It's constantly growing. As a team, we are experiencing the process alongside the students leaning into the lessons as mentors and students ourselves.

I want to thank everyone who has helped get us to this point of starting our 2022 season. You stood by us, believed in us through the highs and lows—the successes and failures. Without you, our H&H community, this would not be possible. It's become a community I am proud to be a part of.

It's undeniable that the world is changing around us very quickly, and hurt and fear are at an all-time high. As things become more negative, the first to break are the most vulnerable – those who have served our nation – the American Veteran.

I look back and see the person I was when I started this journey, and that man is gone. Today will be the first day groups of former soldiers will begin a new path just like I did. The one less traveled, less accessible, not straightforward, and riddled with obstacles just as intended.

Thank you for getting us here and for believing in our mission – to redefine the relationship between challenge and purpose.

-Micah Fink
