A Moment For Introspection

Greetings, Friends, Investors, and Supporters of Heroes and Horses!

2022 has indeed been one for the books. Each year I like to close out with thoughts and a brief look back, revisiting the vision, and how we are making it a reality. I think it's safe to say there is a call for introspection right now. The systemic failure has become too much to digest as numbers that represent lives rattle off at the bottom of a TV screen while ads selling products stream above. Stepping out of the acceleration of life and reevaluating where we are accelerating must be done with truth.

I have come to realize that truth exists in a state of war. Its mere mention is belligerent as it appears on the attack against the lie. There are two faces to the truth, one for laughing and one for weeping. When we become rendered, we see how perception masks those faces. Upon the clear view, we realize we are not where we want to be. This year was a special one for me, not only as a leader but as a human being. Finding stillness in a sea of chaos and searching for growth while expressing truth standing in the fire offered me a gift that I can not put into words. That gift is free to everyone who reaches out.

Some people don't want help, I have learned. The condition is an identity and becomes their permission to live in the feelings they have equated with life. Pain. Then there are those, the "someones," those who will bear it all in radical honesty. Those who will brave the elements, endure the heat, shiver in the cold, and layer by layer reach up, peeling off the weight of a lifetime of judgments. It's here that the world of color becomes infinite. So the thought comes first, the sub-vocal conversation, the emotion, and the will to act—one wobbly step at a time. Our job here is to provide the path. The path home. The double HH ranch is a proving ground restoring the archetype of the warrior, the father, the husband, and the individual who can mindfully and soul-fully once again participate in creativity.

This is the reason for the Capital Campaign, the Gala's, the flights, meetings, successes, failures, fundraisers' emails, phone calls, and the media. It's the reason for the food program, saunas, cold plunges, workouts, Maxim lab, rituals, walking, climbing, wilderness, and 40 days on the back of a horse. We provide the opportunity and you provide the means for that opportunity. We are not helping people but rather awakening the knowledge one needs to help themselves. We invest in the individual in every way, inspiring minds to involve change.

As we close out the year, we will get results from our study. We aim to give it away, inspiring others to do the same and to get back into the business of developing the human. In the end that is where the world is at. It's in us. We can change, and the time to do more is right now. People often ask me what it takes to be a Navy Seal.....honestly I have no idea, but what I do know is that it's alway the guy who, in his own pain, reaches back and helps the other person. Let's join hands together and be the change.

Wishing you and yours a moment for introspection this holiday season,
